Auditions 2009 / 2010

The Orchestra offers opportunities to young musicians at the start of their professional careers, training them in work alongside experienced principal players and thus helping them towards regular secure employment. Depending on repertoire, the Orchestra numbers between 16 and 22 players and it performs without conductor. The EUCO Director is usually a concert master of a well established orchestra or a well known chamber music player.

Including rehearsals for two to three days, tours last usually between one and three weeks.

WHO SHOULD AUDITION FOR 2009/2010?

Oboists, Horn and String players who are in their final year of study or have just completed their studies, who already have experience of playing chamber music and in a chamber orchestra. After a trial tour, if invited, you must commit yourself to a minimum of three tours within 12 months. Your professor should be in agreement with these conditions, if you are still studying at a conservatoire.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Performing in a small, high level group with distinguished directors and soloists is a valuable experience as is that of a tour, playing concerts in different halls of between circa 300 and 2000 seats.

Work with established professional musicians can provide contacts and hence information about future auditions for fully professional orchestras. From time to time EUCO players are offered opportunities to perform solo and double concertos with the orchestra.

EUCO gives between 50 and 60 concerts each year on seven or eight tours. Tours in 2009/2010 will include Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Holland, Italy, Malta and Turkey
