Hélène Gueuret, Oboe

Hélène Gueuret played the recorder from an early age and began studying the oboe at the age of 12, taking first prize on both instruments in 1997 at the Conservatoire National of her home town of Rouen. Completing her studies with Daniel Arrignon, she was admitted to the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique in Paris in the class of Jacques Tys. In 2003, with a unanimous decision of the judges, she won first prize for oboe and was admitted to the class of Maurice Bourgue. In 2005 she took second prize at the Crusell international oboe competition in Finland.

Hélène Gueuret also studied chamber music with Paul Meyer and Eric le Sage and in 2004 took first prize (again by unanimous decision) for wind quintet. She is now a member of Pasticcio Barocco, an ensemble of two oboes, bassoon, double bass and harpsichord, which performs baroque music on modern instruments. A CD of music by Leclair will be released in 2007 on the Hérisson lable.

Hélène Gueret's orchestral experience includes work with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Paris Opera and the Orchestra of the Auvergne. Outside France she has played with the Wallonie Chamber Orchestra in Belgium and with Kremerata Baltica. She holds the post of 2nd oboe, doubling cor anglais at the Orchestre National d'Île de France and a teaching position at an École National de Musique in Paris.
